It’s been a few weeks since The Defenders aired on Netflix. So I wanted to discuss what I want to see with Phase 2 of the Marvel Netflix television programs.
More Misty and Colleen
Every scene Misty and Colleen appeared in together was golden with their electrifying chemistry! The ending of The Defenders sets up more interaction between the two, and hopefully this means in Iron Fist Season 2 (the show both heroes will appear in) their friendship will blossom, and the Daughters of the Dragon will begin.
Less of The Hand
I like that Marvel Netflix utilized The Hand to the fullest with Daredevil and Iron Fist, but that was all build up for the first season of The Defenders. I hope that phase 2 will focus less on The Hand, and explore other villains that walk the streets of New York City.
The Defenders Crossover in Each Others’ Shows
Now that these heroes are friends I want to see more mini crossovers between their solo shows. We have seen Jessica and Luke interact in her show, but I want to see a Daredevil/Jessica dynamic and Iron Fist/Luke dynamic in phase 2. Lets continue to make this world seem like one, and not just do this with The Defenders TV series.
More Hero Journeys Explored
Jessica, Luke, Danny, and Matt should be the start of many more hero stories in New York City. There is potential for supporting cast members Misty Knight, Colleen Wing, and Trish Walker to begin their hero stories as well or even have new heroes introduced. We saw this with The Punisher in Daredevil Season 2 and now he is getting his own show.
Shorter Seasons if Needed
The Defenders proves you can do a show shorter than 13 episodes, and still tell a full story. Honestly, I think The Defenders would of have had a stronger narrative with less than 8 episodes. So if the season arc doesn’t have enough meat for 13 episodes then don’t make it 13 episodes.
